The lecture provides substantial knowledge about the edaphic system, i.e the soil influenced and formed by plant roots, the most important organisms,the main trophic webs and interactions as well as the contemporary approaches to analyse and characterise these habitats. A special focus of interest is ecosystem development  and sustainability. The lecture series will include contributions from experts working in relevant institutions in Vienna and guests from abroad.
